South Korea’s beauty industry or K-beauty, as it’s known, has reached international cult status. Raising standards for innovation within the global beauty industry, and establishing itself as forwarding thinking and revolutionary in its development of new beauty categories.

What is K-beauty known for?

South Korean innovations such as BB creams, sheet masks, ampoules and stick applicators have rocked the beauty world and have become everyday staples for women across the world. K-beauty products stand apart for their high quality, endless commitment to innovation and exotic ingredients whilst all being offered in premium, yet fun, packaging at an affordable price.

Growing profits

According to a report by Raconteur[i] “Beauty is now one of the country’s largest industries, rivalling technology, and is a major export area. In the past five years alone, exports have grown from $1 billion in 2012 to $2.64 billion in 2017, a record high, according to the Korea Customs Service.”

What’s next?

Influential media titles such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and Glamour have all acknowledged that K-beauty is leading the way in beauty innovations, and they can’t get enough of the quality yet fun and quirky packaging. While K-beauty still might not be in the beauty cabinet or dressing table of every home, it is becoming more readily available within high street retailers and online beauty retailers – proving it’s well and truly here to stay.
